At the cool north end of the valley, the Hartfields grow apples the slow way — Spartans, a heritage BC apple bred just down the lake in Summerland in 1936. Cooler nights mean slower sugar, and slower sugar means an apple with actual depth.
Rose Hartfield is the fourth generation on the land. Her Spartans were Croply's very first drop, and they've tilted every single time since.
