Hartfield OrchardsThe Hartfield family · Vernon, BCMeet the farm →Spartan was bred in Summerland in 1936 and the Okanagan has never improved on it: crisp, deep red, sweet with a wine-y edge, and it keeps for months somewhere cool. This is the apple BC kids grew up on before the supermarkets standardized everything.
A 20 lb case is roughly 55–65 apples. Rose's Spartans have tilted every drop they've run — this one went early.
From the orchard: From cold storage at the orchard, where they've been since picking — crunchier in June than most apples are in October.
